I stopped at a service station the other day. Don’t get me wrong, I will be writing about it.
But I was struck by the magazine section of W H Smiths. Check this mess out:
The original AND best VW Camper magazine. The best. Mind boggles as to the size of the competition. This is a 150 page glossy about cars with roofs. There is one EVERY MONTH. And needless to say no vehicle needs that many windows. The rear lounge special is special.
I don’t know what this is even about. The People’s Friend? The Mass’s Mate? What? It seems to be about made up stories about people with far better lives than the readership, and cooking. And who the fuck would want to spend their holiday running a bookshop. Get a grip.
Not too far from VW Campvan Monthly is What motorhome [sic]. No time for question marks because they are too busy driving around in Carado’s A-Class — which, I am sorry to say, is NOT an affordable alternative to a Hymer. Not even close.
Combat Plus Survival. Why have one without the other? If you failed to get into the army, if you love to play with guns at home and you want nothing more than to shoot someone over and over and over again until their head rolls off their blood soaked shoulders, then this is the monthly for you. Learn about Nazi guns, too and check out the latest in camouflaged rucksacks. Perfectly normal.
